What does learning mean to you?

Think longterm here: stop thinking about learning to retain information to pass a test.  start thinking about homeschooling as making it possible for your kid to enjoy learn what they want to learn!  When kids learn what they want to learn they retain the information so much more. Make learning applied learning. When you go to the store and use math on your everyday lives, when you build a do it yourself project, when you learn the history about whats going on around you, learning is supposed to be fun!!!  The purpose of learning  to be able to learn skills to helpyou do what you want to do in life.  For example, writing to be able to commuincate your goals and wishes to others, to be able to share your ideas and thoughts across to others.  Learning is NOT about the nitpicky details on an exams.. its about being able to apply critical thinking, to be able to research solutions, to be able to commuincate with peers, etc.  Talk with your daughter about what she wants to do when she grows up as a starting point and talk about with her what skills she will need to do that.  Look those skills up WITH her. Encourage her passion for a subject or an idea.. her passion will help her retain what she needs to accomplish her dreams.
